Anita Kruse

Singer and songwriter Anita Kruse is described as "a rare blend of visionary artist and a powerful, inspired performer". A classically trained pianist, Kruse began writing her own music while completing a Master's degree in Piano Performance at the University of Michigan. Inspired by her ancestry and the musical talents of her mother and grandmother, Kruse worked as a soloist and accompanist for several years, performing throughout the United States. Kruse also worked as a piano instructor at Houston's Poe Elementary School where she directed children's musical productions. In addition to performing nationwide, Kruse continues her work in Houston as an instructor in piano and songwriting for children and adults.

Produced and arranged by Robbie Parrish, Purple Records has released six CD's by Kruse: All We Have is Now, Light, Creation Flight, Christmas Light, Lullabies from Home and If We Can Fly To The Moon. She is currently working on her seventh CD, Dreaming Out To Sea.

Kruse describes her work as a musical legacy left to her by her mother and grandmother for whom she is named. "I never knew my grandmother, but she was an incredibly talented singer and songwriter. I feel that our bond is music, and that bond exists and flourishes whether she is with me physically or not," said Kruse. Kruse's music celebrates her own spiritual journey including the power of female images and feminine symbols.

Creation Flight is a Celtic musical storybook, guiding the listener through unfolding tales of life, love and friendship. To research her ancestry as the theme for this album, Kruse traveled to Scotland where she traced her family's origins to the island of Iona. Christmas Light, released in December 1999, celebrates the magical time of the year when love abounds in all of us. It features the voices of some of Kruse's young piano students. Lullabies from Home is a touching compilation of 12 soothing lullabies featuring Kruse's distinctive voice and piano mastery. Though designed for babies, these lullabies will touch children of all ages.
