Steve Cochrane ... Enhanced Profile

"My goal in music is to communicate a sense of optimism in our world -- to project the image of a hero, not only as a character to be viewed, but also as a part of each of us, something to be experienced -- our integrity, honesty, intelligence, ambition, the best within us -- our brightest dreams. I try to create a musical picture of what should be and express the conviction that it is possible." -Steve Cochrane

Canadian composer Steve Cochrane began his musical efforts as a self-taught guitarist at the age of 15, influenced at first by the music of Rush. He played in several bands, including Endpieces, a progressive rock band that met with modest local success in Southern Ontario. Eventually, his listening expanded towards the likes of Genesis, Steve Hackett, Renaissance and Mike Oldfield. Also having been inspired by the novels of Ayn Rand, Steve had developed his own compositional style and when Endpieces disbanded, had the desire and the confidence to pursue a solo recording career. Over the next several years, he worked toward acquiring the tools and the ability to record his uniquely dramatic music.
