Dana Johnson & Gene Sherlock ... Enhanced Profile

Dana Johnson (music) has been writing, producing, recording, engineering, and marketing all styles of music professionally for over 11 years. He also has represented artists, shopping their material to major record labels and publishing companies. Dana has been playing the guitar for 23 years and piano for 26 years. When he was 11, Dana wrote his first song on the piano. His piano teacher recognized that he was always making up melodies and she motivated Dana to write the notes down to create sheet music. Dana went on to study music theory in college along with business and mathematics.

Dana wrote, produced, and recorded 18 children's songs for North Country Publishing. These songs were polished so well that one professional vocalist said "these songs sound like movie sound tracks". OAF, Inc. hired Dana to be the in-house engineer and co-producer, pumping out over 50 top quality country songs in a three year period. Major label artists have hired Dana to record and co-produce songs, including a project where children recited poetry to traditional Indian music. Ms. Teen MN, champion body builder Ms. MN, individual artists, and professional dance companies have called on Dana's expertise in editing, writing, voice work, recording and production for years.

After writing over 1000 songs, and recording over 500 songs, it was only natural for Dana to start writing children's music, when he was blessed with two son's Bryce and Drew.

Gene Sherlock (lyrics) has written hundreds of songs ever since his first song was submitted and accepted by Hal Leonard Music, Inc. in 1964. The song entitled "Sleigh Hey" was a choral number and was soon followed by pop, country and a wide variety of children's songs.

Gene's educational background includes journalism and creative writing at the University of Minnesota. Mr. Sherlock is married and has eight children and eleven grandchildren.
